General features
- Favorable prognosis in adults
Key Laboratory findings
- Diagnosis if blast > 20%
- If t(8;21)(q22;q22) found, regardless of blast count
Key morphological features
- Resemble AML without maturation
- Large blasts: Abundant basophilic cytoplasm
- Scattered Auer rods
- Chunky cytoplasmic granules
Genetic abnormalities
- t(8;21)(q22;q22): RUNX1-RUNX1T1
- Additional chromosomal translocation possible
