General features
  • Rare
  • Most in ages 40-55
Clinical presentations
  • Painless mass unless involving bone
  • Usually deep tissue of lower extremities and trunk
Key morphological features
  • Hypercellular spindle cells with dark nuclei
  • Herringbone pattern
Markers
  • Positive for vimentin
  • Negative for S-100 (neuronal and melanocytic marker), cytokeratin (positive for epithelial cells and synovial sarcoma), muscular and histiocytic markers
Treatment
  • Wide excision
  • Radiation
  • Chemotherapy if high grade
