General features
  • Undifferentiated malignant epithelial tumor composed of large, atypical cells
  • Associated with smoking
  • More common in men, age 50 and up
  • Diagnosis of exclusion only on resected tumor
Key morphological features
Markers
  • Positive: Cytokeratin
  • May be negative for squamous and adenocarcinoma markers, as well as neuroendocrine markers, including p63, TTF1, chromogranin, CD56, etc
Treatment
  • Surgery
  • Radiation
  • Chemotherapy
