General features
  • Benign, composed of closely packed spindle cells,
  • May be associated with ascites
  • Either sporadic or associated with right sided hydrothorax, Meigs syndrome and basal cell nevus syndrome
  • Ovarian fibromas
  • Hydrothorax
  • Ascites
  • Hydrothorax and ascites disappear after tumor excision
  • Autosomal dominant
  • Often calcified, bilateral multinodular ovarian fibromas
  • Multiple basal cell carcinomas
  • Odontogenic keratocysts
  • Palmoplantar pits
  • Congenital skeletal abnormalities and ectopic calcifications
  • Inactivation of PTCH gene
Clinical presentations
  • Mass
  • Ascites
Genetic abnormalities
Key morphological features
  • Solid, lobulated, firm, white
  • May have myxoid change
  • Closely packed spindle cells with eosinophilic blending cytoplasm
  • Extracellular collagen
Treatment
  • Surgery
