General features
  • Rare
  • Usually young women
  • Produce androgen, causing virilization
  • Feminine characteristics return after surgery
Clinical presentations
  • Mass
  • Presentations associated with androgen effects: Oligo/amenorrhea, loss of secondary sex characteristics, masculinization
Key Laboratory findings
  • Elevated testosterone and androstenedione
  • Variable increase in alpha-fetoprotein
Genetic abnormalities
  • DICER1
Key morphological features
  • Golden-yellow tumor
  • May have a fewer blood filled cysts
  • Two components
Sertoli cells (tubules)
Leydig cells (granular eosinophilic cytoplasm), may contain Reinke crystals
Treatment
  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy if later stage
