General features
- Rare
- Usually young women
- Produce androgen, causing virilization
- Feminine characteristics return after surgery
Clinical presentations
- Mass
- Presentations associated with androgen effects: Oligo/amenorrhea, loss of secondary sex characteristics, masculinization
Key Laboratory findings
- Elevated testosterone and androstenedione
- Variable increase in alpha-fetoprotein
Genetic abnormalities
- DICER1
Key morphological features
- Golden-yellow tumor
- May have a fewer blood filled cysts
- Two components
Sertoli cells (tubules)
Leydig cells (granular eosinophilic
cytoplasm), may contain Reinke crystals
Treatment
- Surgery
- Chemotherapy if later stage
