General features
- Uncommon IgA mediated autoimmune blistering disorder
- Usually young people, more common in men
- Associated with gluten-sensitive enteropathy
- Extensor surfaces of elbows, knees, buttocks and back
- May involve oral mucosa
- Gluten-free diet may cause prolonged remission
Pathological features
- Pruritic, small vesicles grouped symmetrically, as those seen in herpes
- Subepidermal multilocular blisters with neutrophilic microabscesses
Immunofluorescence feature
- IgA at tip of dermal papillae
Management
- Gluten-free diet
- Dapsone
