General features
- Possible origins
Ovarian pregnancy (gestational
choriocarcinoma)
Germ cell tumor (pure or mixed,
non-gestational choriocarcinoma)
Surface epithelial tumor with
choriocarcinomatous differentiation
- More common in children and adolescents
- Metastases common at diagnosis
Clinical presentations
- Presentation similar to ectopic or tubal pregnancy
Key Laboratory findings
- Elevated hCG
Key morphological features
- Soft with hemorrhage and necrosis
- Microscopically similar to uterine choriocarcinoma
- Cytotrophoblast, intermediate trophopblast and multinucleated syncytiotrophoblast
Treatment
- Surgery
- Chemotherapy
