General features
  • Chronic mucosal inflammatory process, may lead to mucosal atrophy and metaplasia
  • Incidence increases with age; in Europe/Japan, affects 50% at age 60+
  • Histology does NOT correlate well with symptoms
  • May have intestinal metaplasia
